There must be something about this lot as there are two boys in the centre row that went on to be awarded Military Cross'. The captain (centre-Desmond Owen-the late vet) and the last one on the right (William S. Hall, former proprietor of the Bontddu Hall Hotel)

This was a celebration at the end of WW2 going through Eldon Square.
Notice the glassed in arches on the Neuadd Idris. Also an appeal figure of £80,000? for the church?
The appeal was probably
"Bonds for Victory Campaign".

Penmaenpool Village
The village hasn't changed much. They knocked down the chapel on the right (not in view) to make car parking spaces! (Same old story)

Penmaenpool Ferry.
The ferry boat (single oarsman) was the only way to cross easily before the toll bridge, but it was a 24 hour service unlike the bridge. The jetty was complete then too.
|

Penmaenpool - The boat had broken it's mooring thanks to the ice and was on its own way to the bridge. The boat was owned by Michael M. Roberts (TH Roberts' grandson, TM Roberts' son) - much panic.
